Hello
I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.
Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...
Well now. I have some news, but I'm apprehensive about talking about it cos it might be too soon, and I don't want to jinx things.
...
So, to fill the yawning gap left by my total crypticness, here's what I'm planning on doing today:
(1) Install the QuickTime MPEG2 playback component so I can work with .m2v files (long story, which involves me being sneaky and trying to get away without paying for something so I can do my work — but since it's not work I'm being paid for ... well, you can see the vague logic in that can't you?)
(2) Back up the entire server
(3) Install MacOS X Server 10.2 on Erin so that I can start taking control of this sodding network
It may seem like total futility to install OS X Server on a mac that isn't yet set up for the Internet — I realise that next week I'm going to have to do all sorts of reconfiguration because I'll have a brand new IP address — but I've only got the disks for this weekend, and it took me ages to blag them.
And is it bad of me to be borrowing disks from work?
Well, seeing as what I'm doing is researching the software so that we can implement it on a similar (but much bigger) basis at work, then no. Not in my head anyway. If everything goes OK here then whatever money Apple have lost by me being naughty, they'll get back because we'll be buying tons more copies — and that'll only happen if there's someone (ie. me) who knows how to work the thing.
...
Whoa — total geek-overload today. To compensate, I bought a new wig yesterday
It's like the one that I've got on in the new picures — the little black bob — but it's so nice! I was a bit worried, because bobs can look too severe on guys (like we end up looking like Richard III in a dress — oh, go look it up...) but this one is really OK. And it feels so much better than my old one too ![]()
My old wig was beginning to get a bit scraggy — and very very itchy. The nice ladies at the shop where I bought the new one said that if I take it down sometime, they'll see what they can do with it.
..
Anyway, I promise that sometime very soon I will try it out properly and take some new pictures. And I also promise to tell my news. But not yet
