Hello smile

I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.

Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...

Well now, it would appear that the iPod just keeps getting better and better, i mean, the ability to store all your photographs as well as all your music?! Cool

And I suppose you would expect that someone like me, a complete Apple Fangirl, with about 25 Macs in her house, an Apple Shareholder (yeah, I'm going to milk that for all it's worth ), someone who trawls the Apple Store looking for white things to buy, someone whose initial advice to anyone having Windoze problems is "Buy a Mac!", you'd expect me to have an iPod wouldn't you?

Well, actually, I don't. And I've no intention of getting one either.

I like music — I've got a fair bit of stuff in my library here at home (about 40GB of the stuff) — but to be honest, my life doesn't need a soundtrack.

I keep seeing people wandering around with little white earbuds, and I wonder what it must be like to cut yourself off completely from your surroundings and lose yourself in your own music. I quite like the sounds around me, I also quite like silence. I don't really need something pumping in my ear just to relieve the supposed boredom of walking around.

I've got the voices in my head to do that for me...

(Joke )

I mean. I can see the sheer coolness of being able to hook one of these babies up to a TV or a projector and show a reel of slides, or to use one to cart loads of Stuff™ around with you — but music? Nah.

I'll admit that a lot of the time, I have the stereo on in the car when I'm driving — but that's partly to drown out the noise of my exhaust (which I really must get someone to have a look at) and also because my usual pastime when I'm walking of looking around me and wondering about things I see isn't such a great driving tactic

I dunno, maybe if you're plugged into a music player, whatever brand it is, I think you stop looking around you, and you stop noticing interesting stuff. And besides, isn't it a pain in the arse when you're in a (1) lift, (2) train, (3) doctor's waiting room (OK, so I made #3 up) and some SOB is listening to Speed Metal on their iPod at full volume?

I hear where you are coming from! However, I just sprang for my first iPod a couple of weeks ago, and I do not regret it. Since I have a large amount of CD's at home, and the variety is also large.... it's so nice to be able to listen to something that matches your mood at any time! I also use it to transfer files and also listen to my audiobooks!
