Hello
I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.
Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...
Grump (Roll, ignite, inhale, destress)
I's 12.24am, and I find myself in a bit of a bad mood. Today has been frustrating, on many levels, and I've managed to end it by reading the current smoking/non-smoking thread on the Rose's forum. Which was probably a bad idea. What with me on about 30 a day at the moment ![]()
I wish I could think of some kind of argument to shut everyone up about the whole issue. But it's futile. Smokers will continue to not have a leg to stand on, and non-smokers will continue to come across as sanctimonious, hippocritical health-freaks.
So I think I'll keep out of this one.
It's for the best.
(I do realise, of course, that I've failed to "keep out of this one" simply by writing "sanctimonious, hippocritical health-freaks". I know.)
Oh sod it.
I've ranted about this before. I know smoking is bad, but so are a lot of things. I get saddened when people feel the need to "ban" things in order to make the world a better place. It infuriates me that the onus in life is being placed on some higher authority to protect us all from ourselves — because we're all far too stupid/pathetic to do it for ourselves.
If you don't like my smoke, then get out of my fucking bar.
(note to self: delete this in the morning. People are supposed to like you...)

Right on girl, i like your point of view. I am waiting to see the mortality rate decrease (which would seem a logical effect of government saving our lives). But it doesn't seem to be happening. If it does decrease (which i doubt) then we will be debating what to do with all the old pensioners. Now that is scary.

I quit smoking well over a year ago but it was for ME!!. Not because some overbearing prat told me to. I still get would up over anti smoking propoganda. Nobody tells you the side effects of giving up after being a heavy long term smoker. !! BEWARE of them.
Josephine, we're already debating that (Soylent Green anyone?)I don't want to get into a debate about this, really. Smoking is bad — I do it because I'm addicted to it.
I just feel sometimes that Britain (and Ireland natch) is turning into a sanitized theme-park version of itself — with clear markings all over the roads and pavements and bars and everywhere telling everyone exactly what to do.
Sometimes I long for a bit of eccentricity

Log Staring
Does anyone else who runs a server do this? Little moments of quiet inbetween dressing/photographing and working tend to get filled with me sat here, staring at the log files scrolling past

I know this probably makes me very sad indeed (either that or raises the question "have you nothing better to do?") But I kinda enjoy it.
I suppose it's a bit like a techie version of watching a fire

Oh no! that makes two of us sad gits looking at log files....
We should start a Yahoo Group DaveLone Pen writes:
Thank fuck. I thought I was the only sad bastard that did that pathetic kind of activity. I've tried to work out why I do it — and I reckon I see the statistics as some kind of value of my human worth or something. Somebody should invent a USB device that claps you on the back appreciatively whenever someone visits your site. I'd buy it, anyway.
Oh no — me too! Absolutely.I figured it was something to do with being sat here all the time — my main contact throughout the day comes through the 'net — and I kind see each line of log as a little moment of contact with someone.
I've noticed on a lot of blogs that people get dead excited when people leave comments — and I'm no exception. They're like little virtual hugs. My logs are so filled with GETs, it's nice to see a POST each time it happens — however infrequent they are.

Well here's another one — just to give you that little thrill of excitement. Have a good day. And I'm glad to see you use a Mac. Someone like you who values aesthetics obviously couldn't be a PC user.
(takes a quick moment to link to Lone Pen's weblog, let me know if that's OK or notDavew writes:
"We should start a Yahoo Group Dave", no I am not going to look, as there would be a group I just know it...![]()
No need Dave — let Google do it for you... Seems we're not the only ones...
