Hello
I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.
Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...

Inbetween my inward rantings over those comments, I've been a busy girl...
Something I've been wanting to do for ages is utilise all the Stuff™ that I've done over the years — all the things that I spend my free-time on — and provide some sort of showcase for them.
I was a tad worried about linking my boy and girl sites together — but I figured that it's not too hard to find out one domain from the other, and, as I'm being a little bit more candid about who I am, then I thought it only right to share the things that I do.
The code is still in a fucked-up way right now — the usability sucks, and the elegance is practically non-existant — but there's the startings of something there:

I will, over the coming months, be repurposing every single line of code in order to make my life as Chief-Web-Whatchamajigger for our department just that little bit easier. As soon as The Powers That Be in the University decide I can be trusted with a PHP server that is...
(PS: I doubt the whole thing will work with Windows — part of me doesn't care, part of me does. Either way, I have no way of testing it, so, um, feedback would be good. M'kay?)

Damm you Apple
Damm you to hell! Why have you moved (or deleted) http://www.apple.com/applescript/qtscripts.dmg??
I want to automate the entire workflow of taking a QuickTime movie, spitting out a bunch of frames, exporting it to various formats, and bundling it all together in the relevant place so I can add films to my archive easily
But no, you had to go and move the QuickTime example scripts to somewhere, and no amount of Googling on my part can locate them.
*pfft*
Does anyone have a copy of qtscripts.dmg lying around on their Mac? I'd be really really really grateful ![]()
OOO, does anyone know of any way of converting Quicktime files to .mov s or a PC compatable file, my camera runs on QT but i have a windows (hchhh — cat like hiss) pc. preferably an easy way like point, click... wow!
Becky
Hmm
QuickTime files are .movs — there shouldn't be a problem. Tell you what I'd do hon — I'd update to the latest version of Quicktime (6.5 for Windows at the moment, but I think 7 should be on its way soon) and hope it has the right codec
I think I may have gotten my wires crossed! ...yep I did. What I actually need is to convert .mov's into .avi's or .mpg's. (I really should check things before I say them!)
Becky
re. qtscripts, is this what you're looking for? http://www.apple.com/applescript/quicktime/qtscripts.dmg ... should invoke the download.
Lisa
(Sorry to use your page to answer Becky's question... I hope you don't mind!)
Becky, have a look at this page:
http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/mov2avi.html
It should give you everything you need, and I think it is the only way to do it using free tools.
Otherwise, you can use Quicktime Pro which only costs €30 and is much easier to use. Unfortunately, it would be a bit of a shame to buy it now since version 7 for Windows is just around the corner and Apple doesn't do upgrades between version (poo, as Siobhan would say!)
Emily
... should invoke the download
Thank you!
Exactly what I need ![]()
Emily, I don't mind at all — that's what the Web is for ![]()
...
Just as an update — I'm deeply hungover, and about to have a meeting. I'd rather be in bed
Thanks Emily, i'll have to remember that one!
Becky

those comments are mindboggling.
they remind me of the hell i went through in school in dublin, and how amazingly good it feels to know that people like them always end up nowhere, doing nothing, and with no-one.
