Hello
I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.
Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...
Debugging
That whole Server Kaput™ malarky has given me the opportunity to do a bit of serious re-writing of this whole weblog. I mentioned that I'd quite enjoyed using a text editor to write the little temporary blog thing, and, well, I've kinda expanded on the idea...
See, the way I normally do things, is to write everything in a text editor (usually BBEdit, or if I'm feeling adventurous, vi), and then copy-paste everything into a MySQL database.
Which is OK, but a bit clumsy to be honest.
Apart from there being extraneous steps involved, it makes re-editing things a bit tricky.
So, what I wanted to do was have every driven by a series of text-files, all sat nicely in ordered folders. And that's what I've been doing for the past two days ![]()
(Admittedly, all of yesterday was spent working out that to get mod_rewrite working properly in MacOSX Server, it seems necessary to change the default Apache directory directive to AllowOveride All — beats me why, but it took about 6 hours to work that one out)
Anyway, it's all a bit beta at the moment — I'm having to go through all the little bits of code I've written and recode them to work with a file-structure rather than a database, and the major thing I haven't done yet is to set up something that'll read through all the files and spurt the changed ones back into the database for superduper searching... but I'm getting there ![]()
If you like, you can see what I've managed to do so far ... http://www.tranniefesto.co.uk/2005/06/03/ — but just don't expect it all to work OK? ![]()
Being Blokey
Listen, I'm not feeling particularly girlie at the moment
It might be that I'm preoccupied with (a) the server, and (b) all the stunning DIY jobs I've been doing round the house — either way, I'm just a bit distant at the moment...
...having said that, things seem to be progressing nicely on the Fashion Show front. Hopefully I'm meeting up with the two students next week to try things on, so I'll report back on that, plus it's only three weeks until Sparkle so I'm sure I'll be getting a little bit more excitable closer to the event ![]()

Just wanted to let you know that I was so sad to hear about your site problems. Hang in there girl!

*aw* Thankyou
I think I've nearly finished rewriting the entire engine to working from files rather than a database. Things will probably be a bit choppy for a while — file premissions all over the shop, duplicate variables messing things up, that sort of thing. So please bear with me.
Nice site!

Hi Sweetie, Just want to say you've been in my thoughts the last week, I've followed EVERYTHING almost hour by hour (or so it felt). I hope it all comes together again!
