Hello
I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.
Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...
Hyperbole

The BBC are not in the least bit scared of whooping up the hype, however, I checked out each picture ... "exciting" isn't exactly the word I'd use
How about this then?
"Jack Takes Aim"

*swoon*
dammit — going on holidays really buggered up my dr who viewing — i have no idea who this jack fellow is.
He's a cheesey fox ![]()
Sour Grapes
Actually, you know all this obsession of mine with Doctor Who?
Well, I really think I should contextualize it in a slightly better way than it's coming across: namely utter fan-girl who is obsessed and geeky
Let me take you back to a conversation I had with a certain someone about four years ago (September 2001 in fact)...
-----BEGIN FLASHBACK-----
him > Hey Siobhan, how would you like to come and work for the BBC?
me > Hmm, that sounds rather neat
What would you like me to do there?
him > Well, we're just setting up a totally new experimental TV Channel — called BBC 3 and we need someone to do visual effects for it. We've seen what you do, and we think we'd like to use you.
me > Yeah, OK. When do I start?
him > Just as soon as Tessa Jowell says we can make our fab new programmes...
The Guardian > It was not a happy occasion. After throwing a well-aimed spanner into the works of the BBC's digital ambitions by rejecting its plans for the youth and entertainment network BBC3, Jowell proceeded to come apart.
me > Sorry, I missed that. When do I start?
him > Ah, um, well, er, maybe in six months?
------END FLASHBACK------
Over in a corner of the room, while I was being told how fantastic it was to work for the BBC , a few people were discussing the possibilities of bring Doctor Who back to televesion.
My sour grapes about this, is that this thing...

...I could have done that.
Really, I could have. A bit more stripey naturally, but still as good ![]()
(For the record, incidently — if it had been me in charge of the Ninth Doctor, I wouldn't have got an orchestrated verion of the theme tune. I would have asked Orbital iTMS to do it
)
I just read in Popbitch that the Bad Wolf episode isn't going to reveal what Bad Wolf means, and that we won't find out what Bad Wolf is until the Regeneration episode. Hmm!
Oh... and while i'm slightly vodka'd-up and on the the subject. The thing that's intruiged me most about this series of Doctor Who, far more than the Bad Wolf stuff, has been the never-ending references to gayness that Russel and the other writers seem to have put into every episode. I'm not complaining, it's very refeshing, and adds to my enjoyment as I try to spot them all! ![]()
OMG!!!
BAD WOLF IS A REFERENCE TO THE DOCTOR BEING GAY!!!
And I have the proof!
The original lyrics to the song "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" include the lines...
"Number one was very gay
And he built his house of hay"
That's GOT to be relevant. Er. Somehow. ![]()
Yes, and someone needs to get to sleep ![]()
I, incidently, have worked out exactly what I'm going to be doing tomorrow. It involves multiple breakage of intellectual property ... but I hope that all parties enjoy it
...
Becky, are you suggesting that Tom Coates is Bad Wolf? Now that would be kewl
Chance (and a web documentary) found me over at the CBC Doctor Who site, which does actually seem to have a more decent set of wallpapers.
Thought maybe that was worth knowing.
