Hello
I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.
Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...
That Comment Box in Full
Right. There seems to be some confusion as to how to get my little information-scraping comment form to work. I don't, for one second, think that anyone is computer-thicko BTW — I guess this is just one of those inevitable truths: If you add more features to something, it gets harder to use.
I'd like to think, that my underlying reasons for coding all that stuff incidently, was to make everyone's life more complete and easy
But it's not
Truth be told, I live for the comments. They're like little virtual pats on the back, and I must confess I go back through the archives every now and again, totalling up the comments and thinking "Wow, I was popular that day..."
But enough of my ego. Here's how to find the right number off the Angels profile, taking myself as an example...
I'm on this page, just down on the right underneath simone. (As an aside, I often wonder if the girls on this page get many many more visitors than the rest of us...)
Now, if I click on my picture, then it opens up my profile in a new window — the problem being that it's a pop-up window, without an address bar. So you can't easily find the userID ![]()
As Jo mentioned the other day though:
To get your angels number — click on your picture in the gallery to get your profile to pop up. Right click on a blank bit of the page of the profile and choose properties. From the box that pops up look in the address of the page; you will see that the last few digits is your Angel number.
Sorted ![]()
Alternatively, if you enjoy the sight of code, view the source of the gallery page, and hunt down for you name...
<td width="200" align="center" valign="top"
bordercolor="FF99FF" bgcolor="#ffe4e1"> <p><a
href="#"><img src="/gallery/photos/me_23.jpg"
alt="" name="angelphoto" height="120"
border="0"
onClick="MM_openBrWindow('angellookup.asp?
userID=2754','profile','width=750,
height=450');return false;"></a><br> <font
color="#666666"
class="style1"><strong>Siobhan Curran&
nbsp;</strong></font></p> </td>
(or something like that). There, just above my name, is my Angels number — 2754
I'm sorry its such a faff. Really, I'm just trying to make it easy to have little pictures and stuff. Honest I am.
In a related bit of tweaking, I thought it would be an idea if I put a preview button on the comment form as well, so you can see what it's going to look like before commiting it to the eternal-cast-in-stone joy of my weblog.
It might not work properly though. So don't shout at me OK? I did it this morning before my sixth cup of coffee, so I was still a bit groggy.
And just for you Siobhan... when you click on someones name on the Angels website — the popup window now displays your Angels ID number....
Hope that makes things a little less faffy for all.
Jo!
Thank you! That's so good of you!
Is it just me BTW, or is http://www.gravatar.com down today? ![]()
I guess I'm in a minority (nothing new there), but did no one else feel just a little let down by the last episode of Dr. Who? Here's the thing: Every other episode has been concluded by me exclaiming, "That was cool!", but this time — nothing. It all felt a bit 'rushed' to me; the sudden cuts between strands ('now' / 'then') started to get on my frontal protuberances, and I was preying for someone to be decapitated by a broken chain when they were trying to pry open the heart of the Tardis. I thought the Dalek Emperor was a major disappointment: I had the feeling that it 'wanted' to be a good metre taller than it was, but they couldn't have got a decent shot of it, so they 'squished' the poor bugger. Ok, ok, it wasn't all bad: the whole 'god' vs. 'satan' dialog was neat; as was the "Bad Wolf" thing (anybody work out why those particular words?). I don't know, maybe it was just the thought that it was over made me a bit pissed off. On the whole though: a great success. All praise to C.E. (who must surely rank as one of the great Doctors — alongside T.B.)
(Retires to await arrival of angry mob, cries of 'heresy' and being burnt at the stake.)
Alli' Cat'
(Retires to await arrival of angry mob, cries of 'heresy' and being burnt at the stake.)
/me goes to get pitchforks and angry villagers
(I should probably start putting SPOILER warnings here or something)
The way I read the reason for the "Bad Wolf" words, was that the reason Rose chose those words was because they were the ones right in front of her. That bit where she made the letters on the wall float off was the point at which she spread "Bad Wolf" through space and time.

Uh Oh
I'm currently keeping a close eye on what the weather's going to be doing on Saturday. It would be great if Sparkle was a big shiney happy sunny day, but my Dashboard Weather Widget is currently saying this:

Well you know what they say about Manchester ![]()
Bye the way...Did you know the 'Blogger' spell check changes your name to 'soybean' ![]()
To be honest, I'm hoping for a cool day just from the point of view of being a tranny in wig and full makeup in heat like this going to give my makeup a life expectancy of about 10 minutes before it slides off my face.....
Like you Jo, I could do with it being a bit cooler for Sparkle — last year, or was it the year before I was desparate to find a seat outside rather than sweltering inside. Overcast but warm would be OK.
Bloody Hell, three buttons to choose from, now I'll have to think about that — could you write a help file, Siobhan? ![]()
Ooops, didn't spot the pretty little ? button there — slopes off sheepishly... baa
Oops. Sorry if I caused a rant about computer-thicko. Being an ex COBOL mainframe programmer it was the sort of jibe I used to get a lot from all those java groupies. Thanks for the step-by-step instructions — I'd missed Jo's posting about it. Not having a flikr or blogger account I was really pleased that there was another method of attaching photos (even if this one needs updating).
Regarding the weather at Sparkle — I don't think long-range forecasts (i.e. 5 days) are up to much. 24 hours is usually accurate (although I don't recall the ferocity of last night's deluge being mentioned previously) but 5 days — too much chaos for anything like a reliable prediction.
I think the problem with that last Dr Who episode was the BBC built it up too much. Don't move onto me with the angry mob next or anything, I did think it was great, but it was built up too much. Agree that CE has to be one of the Dr greats, he is definitely up there with TB.

Did you know the 'Blogger' spell check changes your name to 'soybean'
Did you also know, that if you type my name in on a mobile phone, the predictive text is convinced you're trying to type "Phobia" until you hit the last N — which is ironic really, considering my Big Theory Why I'm a Transvestite.
Hittage
I know my link to him dropped off the bottom of my del.icio.us links a while ago, but I was peeking at Scott's Place — "The Bad Wolf Effect" earlier, and pitying the poor guy. That's one hell of a usage-spike. Practically slashdotted.
Anyway, I thought I might, at the end of the month, go all Troubled-Diva on yous and throw some stats up as to what passes through Erin each day. As soon as I managed to coax something pretty out of Excel that is
(not easy).
It's currently running at about 11,000 page-impressions a day. Which isn't bad for a G4 on a 256Kb ADSL line
well excuse this bit of 'computer thicko-ery' but whats the difference between Flickr screen name and alias??? Im computer retarded so help me here.
And yes Gravatar site was down, back up now.
Don't worry Lana — when I was writing the script I completely forgot that there was such a thing as a Flickr alias. Your alias is the personal bit of your own photo/profile page — here's a snippet from the Flickr FAQ;
70. Can I point my friends towards a page that's mine in Flickr?
Yes! You can make your very own Flickr web address. You just need to choose an alias which will represent your Flickr page. Once you've set your alias, this cannot be changed, so think carefully!
Then you will have two addresses which you can share with your friends, that will look a bit like these:
For your photos page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/george/ For your profile: http://www.flickr.com/people/george/
Until you set an alias, your profile/photo page is reachable by a weird 78481732@N00 number — if you don't want to make an alias, you could use that instead.
Hope that helps ![]()
Small muse: The problem that I have noticed with computer geeks is that they do not realise that their starting position is stratospheric compared to normal people. So when a computer geek takes things to a level that they think of as 'simple' it is still off the plant for most people. If you are a computer thicko (like me) you can't see that far even through a telescope — although it could be because the lens cap is still on. Muse end.

Thanks Hon I think I get the drift, anyway lets see if this works LOL, if it doesnt then I'll just make a twit of myself anyway ![]()
dammmm oh well i think I'll just wait till my Gravatr av's approved. know how to work that

err was this post caused by my computer thicko-ery last night? — eek, just had a bash at it and it works a but but the preview page at least had an underscore in my profile image escaped, — gillhead_1.jpg instead of gillhead1.jpg
