Hello
I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.
Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...
Sparkle
OK, just to recap on things, in case there's anyone reading this who's not in Manchester, or hasn't sussed out what I've been going on about for the past umpteen weeks.
Sparkle is about celebrating the Transgender Community. It's an attempt to throw off our usual skulking-in-the-background approach to gaining respect, and a bit more in-your-face than our usual events.
The point, as far as I'm concerned anyway, is to go out there and be positive about who and what we are, not apologetic.
It's about realising that we can't just debate ourselves to death in a closed-off community — we have to actually reach out and start including other people and communities in our struggles for 'whatever'.
It's also about having a fucking great time ![]()
So, as promised, here is my little plan of action for the next two days:
Friday
I'm heading over this morning to Manchester, probably going to be there at about 10.30am. I have quite a few things to do though — not least of which is hitting the Trafford Centre to get some shoes — like hanging pictures up for the Exhibition. But in the evening, I'll be dragging myself up and out for a shindig with Jo and Kim and some of the others.
After that, we're going to see Elephant Shelf at Via Fosse (I think)
Saturday
Right, the big day itself.
I will be pissing everyone off by spending most of the morning walking round in drab
At 4.30pm though, I'll be strutting my stuff down the catwalk at the fashion show in the Manhattan Bar where you're all quite welcome to come along and point and laugh.
Inbetween then and the next show (at 7pm), I'll probably just hang around the bar, because I really don't have much time.
After the second show, I'll be hitting the bars. Probably Via Fosse where I'm currently pinning my hopes on Angelic to provide me with a Happy World Of Trance™ to lose myself in.
...
All this, basically, is an excuse to say if you see me, come over and say "hi". Or, alternatively, if it's later on in the night, come over and give me someone to lean on in case I fall over.
I won't be writing anything for the next few days, but, because of my fab new camera (
), I imagine I'll be posting photos.
How cool is that?
Photos from Sparkle as it happens.
