Hello smile

I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.

Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...

I'm quite a private person really. I'm not used to having my front blinds open, especially at this time of day.

All the kids are walking past my window on their way to school, and peering nosily in (and cooing at Biscuit)

Having said that, I'm in a personal nirvana. For years I've wanted to spend my mornings sitting at a table answering emails and stuff on a laptop. Call me easily-pleased if you like, but I'm happy

I should maybe put some clothes on though...

I can almost smell the steaming cup of coffee just out of view by the laptop...

I do like your house

And I know exactly what you mean when you finally get it tidy and you can sit at the table with the curtains open and the sun shining. I'm usually tempted to go out and buy a bunch of flowers to put in the middle of the table.

Note To Self

Sorry, ignore this, it's just that I had a really good idea on the way back from the shops a second ago, and I wanted to write it down before I forgot about it.

I've been asked to implement the website I built for the course I teach on, for the whole department. Essentially this means multiplying everything by about five, but one of the things I'm really keen on doing is finally getting my 'throw things in a folder to put them on the website' idea to work.

However, I was thinking just about things like Quark documents and stuff a second ago, and I thought "Hey, there are things that parse PDFs and stuff, why don't I set up a virtual printer on the network that makes PDFs of things sent to it, chucks them in the appropriate folder, then something can convert them to PNGs or whatnot and shove them on the site."

So basically, you print to the website.

Like I said, ignore this  In fact, ignore me for a few days. I'm busy with something.

Sounds like a good idea!

That's the sort of thing you can set up CUPS to do very easily indeed, using ghostscript to output either PDFs or bitmap images.

Umm what's that in English?

Seeing those pictures of your house I think I've just broken the tenth Commandment.

"Thou shalt not molest thy neighbour's oxen"?

Swansong

Icarus flew too near the sun,

And into the blue his red wax did run.

It fell to the earth and sealed the scroll,

The daredevil angels alone would unfold.

Oh, gorgeous...

May I recommend this to you:

I saw a smaller version (a 'mere' 30,000 odd figures) some years back. It's on my 'all-time-top-ten-spooky-experiences' list!

Don't mind me... just checking my Blog aggregator's not broken!
