Hello smile

I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.

Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...

Delusions Of Grandeur

tagself selfimportant

If I may make a small confession, I do sometimes think I'm far more important and well-known than I actually am.

But first, let me just satisfy the massive curiosity that I know has been bulding up into a frenzy since I first mentioned it a few days ago, and share a (rather crap really) photograph of what I look like in my academic garb...

Doing Gown

(Feel free to (a) laugh, and (b) laugh even harder at the thought of what I must have looked like a few minutes later when I had my mortarboard on)

In all honesty, I was rather chuffed that the colours I was wearing (green and purple) whilst not great, were at least different to all the (now) graduates.

But I digress...

This evening, I was relaxing sobering up at M's flat in Harrogate, waiting until I was ready to go home, when I overheard a short snippet of a phonecall she was having with a friend:

"Yeah, I'll tell him. He'll piss himself"

"Piss himself at what?"

"Oh, E's just told me she saw a load of trannies getting off a coach in the centre of town"

It only took a few seconds in Google to discover that the Beaumont Society was having it's yearly 'do' in Harrogate this weekend  And since we were just literally two minutes up the road, we just had to go...

The 'delusions of grandeur' part of me thinks, in these situations, that the following will happen...

"Hey look! Over at the bar! Isn't that guy — the guy with the ponytail — isn't that Siobhan Curran?!"

...but it never happens.

(It happens to April favicon all the time — and God don't I hate her for it )

I think it's easy, sometimes, to think within a very small sphere of influence — and presume that that sphere must be the be-all-and-end-all of all trannieness (or whatever your thing is). It's quite galling, sometimes, to have it constantly pointed out to you (by people and scenarios) that the vast world you think you occupy, is only one small part of a huge network of other things. And just because you have a few thousand people that read your crap every day, it doesn't mean that every tranny (or whatever) on the planet is going to leap out of their seat in a Heat Magazine-worthy slobbering mess the minute someone looking vaguely like a stubbly version of you walks past.

Having said that, I'm thinking that not being recognised was perhaps a good thing. As well as there being completely different Zones Of Interaction™ within the TrannieSphere™©, there's also completely different levels of "fun".

And though I appreciate that not everyone on the planet aspires to my own particular idiom of drunken hilarity, my God, they weren't exactly brimming with jolity.

(It felt like a sales reps' convention. But with more twin-sets than Vectras)

Each to his own, I guess. The only thing that would ever bother me about all of that, is when someone would turn round and criticise me for having too much 'fun'.

If I ever see you out, then I'll shout it out so you can hear.

Compensation

There have been too many photos of me dressed as a boy on Flickr recently.

Feel. The. Need. To. Post. Tranny. Pictures...

I was saving this one — a picture from a time when I had both less hair, and less clothes — for a rainy day.

But I think two pictures of me in a suit and tie consitute the tranny-equivalence of a rainy day.

OMG! It's about time we saw more pics of feminine you! I love them!

Yes! Why aren't you more tranny! Try harder!

I'm off to bed. :-/

Nice! Thanks for the little bump of encouragement to me with my currently (or is is currantly?) shortish hair. It's growing. S-l-o-w-l-y.....

The 'delusions of grandeur' part of me thinks, in these situations, that the following will happen...

There's this one tranny at all Angels events who will come over and talk to Kim. Then go to shake my hand and ask me who I am.

Every time.

I feel a MMM 'Don't you know who I am' moment coming on

well I think you looked very swish in your suit, where's the mortarboard pics

Siobhan

You're cool

I like the compensation!

Oh! How do you deal with the frustration of going and getting yur hair done and then realising that your camera is broken and you have no way of taking pictures! ???

Grrrrr!

BTW

Do you really have delusions of grandeur ?

I spotted you straight away at Sparkle....must have been the suit....he he

And it sounds like the Beaumont do was a lot of fun..not. I mean why do we put up with this if we don't go out, get drunk and dance til we can't stand?....or maybe thats just me

Oh and the shorter hair pics are fab. I loved the first tousled hair look. May have to show that to my hairdresser for inspiration.

Just who is this Magna Carta fellow?

Hardly Har, Har...

They make you wear a mortarboard to encourage you get your finger out to get your PhD — and then of course you can wear a huge, squashed Thomas More hat. It's just as silly as a mortarboard but much more camp. I loved wearing mine! I wanted to take it home...

That is one of the three four reasons I want to do a PhD

Do you really have delusions of grandeur ?

"Grandeur" is the wrong word really Gayle. "Delusions of importance" is probably a better way of putting it.

Maybe.

Stunning isn't it?

I doubt I could write eloquently about this, so I'll just link to the Second Life Relay For Life page instead, and point you to a photoset on Flickr with some of the things I've seen today.

I'm planning on going back in later, so I can go to the opening ceremony.

It's bloody down AGAIN.

You need to get out more
