Hello smile

I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.

Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...

Media Convert

Pretty nifty conversion tool that takes almost anything and converts it to other stuff, even URLs to screenshots — could be rather useful  [via Tom favicon]

FFS, Just Buy It ALL

A tiny little heads-up that I'm probably the last person on the (Second) planet to mention/know about — but Pixeldolls are having a rather wonderful "Everything for L$50" sale at the moment

I was stood there yesterday, surrounded by (I kid you not) fifty million other avatars, lagging like hell, listening to the conversations all around me as I was right-clicking with a passion.

"Hmm, I'm not sure about this one. I don't know if I should get it"

Just to put things in perspective here, L$50 is about 10 pence.

I bought the lot

Speaking of Pixeldolls, I happen to believe I'd look great in any of these (including the suit ), you know, if like anyone was actually considering buying me a present...

I need a SLish List¹

¹ Oooh, that was a bad one. But in my defence, it's early

well I sent you a pressie once, did you ever try the schoolgirl outfit???

you mean this one..?

Schoolgirl Kisa

Convention Crossovers

Hmm, a small thought. I blame the exhibitionist in me for my seemingly unstoppable desire to post each and every photograph of me wearing a dress to trannyflickr. It's an extension of that age-old thing of spending a great deal of time and effort dressing up, and not wanting it to go to waste.

It's also a Look at me! Look at me! Look at me! thing

A short while ago though, I was out shopping for some new clothes (for Kisa) when I stumbled on the most brilliant French Maid outfit yet — so naturally I legged it back to my house for a couple of snapshots

Just as an aside, BTW, wouldn't it be great if you could change outfits in Real Life as easily? It took me ages to climb into (and even more ages to climb out of) one of my maids outfits last night — not in the slightest bit helped by being drunk...

Anyway, snapshots at the ready, my Trannie Instinct™ kicked in:

"Must. Upload. These. Somewhere"

But just before I bombarded the Second Life Flickr Group with wanton shots of me bending over with a feather duster in my hand, I suddenly realised "Wait! I don't do that there"

I guess they'll stay on my hard drive then.

So you're not going to post the to your own Flickr places?

Hrumph! You're teasing us again!

/me goes off and sulks. Especially as she can't dress when she wants, and doesn't own a maids dress either. Yet.

Oh, go on then

That is so cute!

It's just a shame that the little hat conflicts with one of my hair attachments  I should edit it so that it attaches in a different place

BTW, this one's pretty adorable too.

(See what I'm doing here? I'm trying to sucker Claudia into joining Second Life )

should edit it so that it attaches in a different place

Your knob?

cough. Sorry.

Just had to, didn't you?

Shouldn't you be hunting things down on YouTube for me right now?

It appears the piece has not made it onto everyone's favourite video ripping site yet. But I'm sure it will. If not, I'll digitise it as I recorded it accidentally while I was out last night.

I love you

That second one is even cuter

Right, I'm off to spend some Lindens. I hope they suit tall girls too.

I'm not exactly petite you know

Here's a Slurl to the store

Perspectives

A bit of a Second Life day today

So, you might remember a while back I made a stab at recreating the building I teach in...

Now, I'm planning on having another go, making it (a) more realistic, and (b) more 'life-size'.

See, the thing I've noticed is that even if you build something to scale (taking avatar size into account — they're bigger than people), because of things like the camera position and zoom and stuff, it's really hard to get things the right size so that they feel natural.

This is just a general observation — one I haven't got an answer for at the moment — I just wanted to illustrate it with two snapshots of the same scene, taken from different angles:

(1) Normal 'third-person' camera

third person

(2) Floor level

floor level

See what I mean?

Maybe it's just my eyes, but I look bigger (or rather, the space looks smaller) in the first image.

Hmm

Anyway, speaking of the studio, I'm about to go over to Leeds in a few minutes.

/me waves

I've been trying out Media Convert over the weekend — I got the link from lifehacker. It something that sounds a lot better than it is in practice. It's very slow at converting audio — 25 minutes plus for a 1MB mp3. I tried to convert a flash video file into mpg and it came back without the sound. I'll stick with Super, I think.

Everything I've Ever Said About Chavs, I

Yep, thought you'd suit the schoolgirl outfit but the pic in the maids outfit is awesome

Er, how does that image relate to Chavs?
