I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. Is it just me, or has the internet started going really slow?

Oooh. I think Erin is getting spammed :unsure: There's an enormous amount of mail connections going on right now — all to a domain name that I switched on earlier today. I think they're the kind of spam where it's bouncing back because someone is spoofing my address.

I hope this isn't a permanent thing...

Out And About

Just very quickly — not that I think anyone's interested or anything, but whatever :wink: — I thought I'd mention that I'm planning on going to the Red Lion tomorrow night in Leeds.

A couple of people have reccomended it to me, so I thought I'd pop along for a drink and catch up with one or two people that I know — and maybe meet one or two that I don't.

What with time constraints, and never having been out dressed in Leeds before though, I'll most likely be dressed like this.

A lot of these SL skirts remind me of the faulds used in plate armour, but I guess it's due to construction limitations.

Am I right in thinking that you 'buy' gestures in SL? If so, does a n00b just look like a static lump until they cotton on and buy some movement? Thinking about it then, does interaction with other people involve huge amounts of 'gesture lag' while they scrabble about for the right menu / key combo / whatever?

I could always go and take a look, but I'm sooo not going anywhere near SL while I've got time on my hands!

Well, you get a smattering of default ones to start you off :smile:

The key with the 'gesture lag' thing, is to set the triggers for gestures to easily rememberable things I guess. So if I want to laugh I type "/lol", or if I want to smile I type ":)". Although to be honest, I'm not someone who uses gestures to their full extent — I realy must spend some time brushing up on them.

Actually, I'm wishing I did have my own little technical support department right now. That "internet is slow" thing I was talking about earlier has been getting worse all day. I'm being bombarded with spam right now, and I can't get to my DNS settings to move things araound so Erin isn't swamped with shitty traffic.

It's really annoying me...

Why not use a proper web host? Then we won't have to put up with your slow website either! :tongue:
