Hello smile

I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.

Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...

Weird English Laws

taglink funny

"It is illegal for a lady to eat chocolates on a public conveyance." — and the Welsh don't seem to get a good deal much either, judging by where and when you're allowed to shoot them

Weird American Laws

taglink funny

"In Miami, it is illegal for a man to wear any kind of strapless gown" — but it says nothing about saucy little off-the-shoulder numbers. (Apologies for the hideous background)

Face-off: The blank faces at Flickr and 43Things

taglink icon buddyicon

A comparison of two default avatars — There's something about the Flickr Default Buddyicon that I find unsettling, but I'd really like to use it here, rather than the 'hacked default Apple User Picture' that I use.

Useful service to get an Avatar's key from their name — which I want to use for something ... something cunning

Probably blogged by everyone else on the planet already, but hey.

Shoo! Shoo! Shoo!

This is, I'm sorry to report, the inside of my right shoe. For the purposes of photographic record, I hastily pulled out the insole so I could see the little bugger and share this cat-based moment with you.

You'll thank me later.

For no real reason whatsoever, other than it seemed an interesting format to jot a few things down...

What's up with the Internets?

You know, I have no idea. Ever since our ISP changed their settings over from PPPoE to PPPoA it's been a really shitty connection. Erin's been offline for no apparent reason every now and again, and there are these odd moments of sluggishness that really fuck me off.

I should look into it, huh?

Hey, I've been getting emails all day from concerned students about someone hacking into the website at work. WTF?

Ah. See. Sorry about that

In a momentary blinding flash of genius — and an attempt to add more functionality to what's already an overgrown beast, I turned sendmail on on our external server.

I mean, it was a simple idea — get the website to email you a copy of any messages sent so that you didn't have a great big queue of things to deal with every time you logged in.

But, of course, I completely forgot that I'd written a little "send welcome email to new logees" thing ages ago, and there were several hundred emails queued-up and ready to go, just waiting for me to hit the "enable sendmail" button on the config site.

So you'll probably be getting confused student emails until October.

Promise me you'll finish the Thing That You're Doing With The Comment Form™ by Monday.

Ah, yes. I know. Weird isn't it? I would have done it over the past couple of days, but they were kinda taken over by me being a hostess and whatnot.

I'll try. I promise I'll try.

Was it just me, or did you notice that Sainsburys have reduced their rather scrummy Navarra to £2.99 this evening?

gravatar

Graham

Yep, but shhhhhh. Everyone else will go out and clear the shelves if we tell them

What's for tea?

gravatar

Kisa

Nothing. Just wine.

You know that guy we just put up for the past couple of days? Don't get me wrong — and I'm sure it wasn't his fault or anything (considering his circumstances) — but even though you shoved him in the bath the minute you got him here, he didn't half stink

gravatar

Graham

Yeah, I know. It's times like that I wish I had a washing machine. Bless him though — he'd not slept or showered for a couple of days, so it's not a bit of wonder. But I have to agree, I did feel a pang of pity for whoever ended up next to him on the National Express.

Speaking of which, do you actually expect to see your money again?

gravatar

Kisa

Ack, c'mon. You'd have slipped him a few L$ wouldn't you? I know that if it was me, I'd be writing a cheque the minute I got home, and would be forever blogging about the lucky break I got when I was trying to hitch home.

Maybe, but a "thank you" might have been nice

gravatar

Graham

Well, I guess. But he did cook a rather marvelous meal last night "as a thank you", and I reckon it was all just a bit hurried, cold, and Too Early In The Morning For Pleasantries™ when we bundled him on the National Express at 3am.

Are you sure?

gravatar

Kisa

Maybe not, but I don't really care. What's important is that he's home now, and my Karma is fucking stunning

What'cha wearing tomorrow night?

Graham

I'm going dressed as Kisa

Shirt and tie?

Kisa

Yep. and I'm going to flirt outrageously
