Hello
I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.
Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...
I Wish I'd Had My DSLR
Did you see the moon tonight? Just as I was coming over the top of the hills into Skipton, past the Addingham Bypass, the sky opened up in a brilliant shade of red (that my cameraphone didn't capture — hence the "Wish I'd Had My DSLR" thing) with the moon — a silvery disc with a sliver of brilliant white stroking its lower edge — hanging in seeming conversation with Venus.
At moments like that, I find myself almost able to picture a god's-eye-view of me in my car, crawling across the face of a planet in perspective of all the other ones floating around it.
Behind me, as the nght creeped in, the stars were starting to emerge, and — I dunno — I just suddenly felt like part of the universe, as opposed to battling against it.

To be honest, today's not been right at all. Or rather, my expections of today haven't been right, when in fact almost everything else has been. For the third morning in a row, I woke up with a ridiculous grin on my face, and careered off along the A65 with a sense of self that seemed relaxed and confident — not downtrodden, nor over-pumped-up.
Skimming through the main street of Helifield, bearing down on the trickle of cars in front of me, I caught a glimpse of Pendle Hill out my right window. The morning sun was catching the snow that must have settled overnight, and lit it up like a beacon against the pre-Spring dreariness of sheep-filled fields.
(God, I'm really not doing this justice
)
Peering over the top of Beamsley Hill, lorries in my wake, stereo cranked up to five short of how high it goes (Linkin Park — oh shut it
), the sun again picked out a peak, and had me scrabbling for my camera to capture the brilliance of light on rock.
(I totally failed)
Dunno — it was all just so good ![]()

At work, I've been hankering for some funding to let me rip on a few projects — some web-based, some SL based. There has been the vague promise of an island for months now, and part of me was beginning to think it was one of those things where you get continuosly fobbed-off until you lose interest yourself.
But an email in my inbox brought me the news that we've been given two

And apart from the moon — which stayed with me (it seemed) the whole of the journey home until Orion (everyone's favourite constellation) picked up as 'home-pointing-beacon' as I turned around Lancaster's One-Way system — the journey home was almost perfect. Less than two hours of open stretches, as opposed to near three hours of tractor-clogged country lanes.

Look. Basically I've had one hell of a good day.
Cold though, wasn't it?
Cold today, oh yeah. But some lurvely warming sun. Caught the moon as I strolled to the shops this evening, it was pretty amazing, totally the slimmest moon I've seen in ages, with the rest of it just visible, pretty good. I take it the shiny thing above it to the left was Venus then? I was wondering what that was, it looked really good as the light was failing with just those two hanging in the sky.

So the reflection would be from Chelker reservoir I guess? Just past the wind turbines?
I used to drive to work from Airedale to Harrogate through the National Park. I once saw Mercury hanging over the horizon by High Bradley. Not quite the most beautiful commute in the world, but pretty good.

Short version of story: Driving back from Scotland after an impromptu skiing trip. Up at 'sparrow fart' as we want to get home in time to go to the match. Ice-clear sky turning from black to blue and we're heading into a big fat sunrise; which is a bit of a bummer if you're driving, but I wasn't. So I got to turn around and watch the snow-covered mountains slowly turn salmon pink. No cameras; but what the hell, they never do these things justice, not like the pictures in my head
