Hello smile

I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.

Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...

Endgames

It strikes me, that there's one piece of footage that they never ever show us.

That of The Doctor, sitting slumped against the walls of the TARDIS, crying his eyes out.

Cos that's what I'd do

I liked DWC with John Simm commenting he got an eyeful of Tennant-stubble during that scene.

Personally I'd like to see DCI Gene Hunt as the next companion, "Cybermen? Ponces!"

Cos that's what I'd do

"Mobile phone operator O2 is reported to have won the sought-after deal to sell Apple's iPhone in the UK." — Ah, the UK-versions of the iPhone rumours have started

I seem to have far too many things to do at the moment...

  1. Finish the next issue of /seconds. "This one will be a lot smaller", they said, seeing as how the last issue topped 100 articles. And to be fair, it is smaller — just not a lot smaller. Probably about 70 things in total. I'm currently looking at a folder with 30 things inside of it, each of them needing formatting and whatnot.

And I've got to get them all done by Monday because...

  2. Got a conference in Manchester on Monday and Tuesday. Part of my JISC involvement thingy — and I've somehow managed to land myself the pleasure of giving a short talk about all the Web 2.0 stuff I do. Which potentially means saying "I've been blogging about wearing frocks for the past five years".

  3. I'm not entirely sure if I'm meant to have them or not, but the plans for the new building in Leeds found their way into my bag last night.

There was a rather stunning piece of u-turning from my colleague when I murmered an intent to knock-up a quick model of it in SL.

    "Oh yeah?" he said, sarcastically.

"Oh, actually, that would be really useful" — and then spent the next half an hour running around trying to get documents and ceiling height-type information for me.

I am though, currently, sat waiting for the PDF versions of the plans, because I don't have a scanner.

  4. "Dear Graham Kisa, thank you for agreeing to speak about Second Life on 18th July".

Actually, that might be fun. I'm going to show both the BBC documentary thing I was in, and the self-building-building film. Essentially, it's two 45-minute sessions of me saying "How clever am I?"

  5. Super-fun but top secret thing that I can't talk about because I signed an NDA. Trust me though, it's a bit good.

  6. Super-fun but top secret thing (2) that I could talk about if I wanted to, but I'll save it until (a) it all works, and (b) it's a lot prettier than it is.

  7. And I seem to recall that I made a decision to move to Leeds some time ago

I was at the JISC Annual conference last friday at the Devere in Blackpool.

As a college I was exhibiting our new Web products and communication devices however i did manage to catch two seminars. One on video casting and RSS feeds and the other on Web 2.0 and what does it mean.

Let's just say that the 2.0 one was so bad that i actually told the speaker mid seminar and walked out.

Do you do a lot of JISC stuff?

Remind me to never invite you to a talk I'm giving

Do you do a lot of JISC stuff?

Sort of. I'm involved with a JISC project at the moment, but my engagement with it is quite sparse. I leave it up to my colleague to do all the nitty-gritty liasing with JISC, while I just get on with making lots of things

I was a little more professional than I made out in this post (sorry I had been on the Booze last night).

The talk he was giving basically promoted the use of Youtube, Flickr, Bebo, Myspace, Facebook, Del.icio.us, msn messenger and a whole other host of SN sites within the clasroom.

He was saying that he had consulted with one place and they were uploading a whole classes work for the term to some site and then only printing it out when the EV came round for a visit.

My argument was around the fact that you are placing the security of your data in the hands of a third party service to which you have no control over. Secondly the idea of putting vulnerable adults data on the web for the world to see is a very grey area.
