Hello smile

I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.

Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...

Can you see where the leak's coming from? Radiators are expensive  ; hoses / clips, not so

Oh yes — if it was the head gasket, shouldn't there be creamy gunge (emulsified oil) around it?

I'd get the cats over ASAP. It does help!

They make themselves scarce when the moving guys turn up — no matter which end of the move they're at. Give them time to adjust, and without the fuss and confusion of the actual move. (Keep them inside for a couple of weeks, at least, too. That's how they know they're home, and not in some cat-hotel...)

I usually leave my pets in whichever place has the most things that smell like me. When you've got about half your things to the new place, I'd bring them, so they can also start settling in.

You've really had a few days of adventures in cars, yeah? I used to have a car that require you to pop the hood (er.. bonnet, haha) and connect two wires with a screwdriver tip in order to make it start. This was a different car from the one with the bad radiator, no heat and non-functioning windows. I feel your pain! Poor thing. hands you a hot drink

A glass of wine would go down rather well right now, to be honest

In actual fact though, the sealant did its job — I've just driven back to Leeds without having to stop once

Holts RADweld FTW!

Egg white's: they used to be fine. Probably not with the high-pressure systems in modern cars, though!

I had an old-at-the-time Hillman Avenger that took 6 eggs and a lake of gas to go from Birmingham to Sheffield. The egg whites went in the radiator, sealing the crack(s), and the gas went in the tank, helping to ensure that Saudi Princes didn't have to live in poverty.

Sorry. Rambling. Long day, driving. (In a car, worse luck!) Pretty roads around eastern Virginia, but it's a long way from home!)

Oh, yes: "what I were goin' to say"! I forgot the bit about having stuff that smells of "home". For the cats.

We gave our cats a small dose of "Rescue Remedy" to calm them down before putting them in the carriers, and loading them up for the trip to Jersey. It worked, mostly. Just a spritz to calm them, as I say. I don't know if it's for sale in the UK, or what it might be called. I can let you know what's in it if you want?

I like this stuff. It costs about the same from my local supplier, but works a lot better:-
