Hello
I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.
Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...
Too. Many. Things.
A crap post, but something I just wanted to splurge for a second:
I have a plethora of Cool Interesting Internet Things I Want To Do™ at the moment. There are (obviously) the things I have to do — like the unbelievably cool and quite frankly revolutionary kick ass web app that I'm developing for work (but I talk too much about that...). But there are also a lot of things that are buzzing at the back of my head.
For example, Thaumata and myself spent a long time discussing some ideas for something that would seriously rock as soon as we manage to make it, based on a little del.icio.us/SL hacky thing I made yesterday.
Also, what with all the tagging and whatnot I've been doing on this blog recently, I think it would be rather nice to have RSS feeds for specific tags, and to be able to filter out tags as well.
(ie. "tranny photo -secondlife"
)
And I've been tinkering with a little idea for the web-profile tab in my Second Life profile this morning — which is going to be dead easy (I reckon) as soon as I get my head around a certain website's themeing scheme.
Basically, I meantioned this over two years ago — the idea that I'm (and we all are, I guess) spread over countless sites and social networks, and wouldn't it be nice to have some kind of standardisation across them?
...
See? Crap post
I'm going to watch a film with Thau, then throw my head into CodeWorld™

Web Profiles & Tumblr
Have I ever mentioned how much I love Tumblr.com? I can't remember exactly where I first found out about it through — it was either James or Ordinal Malaprop — but that perhaps doesn't really matter.
I most likely first mentioned it when I was mulling over how to make a lifestream a while back. It seemed like such a good little way of pulling together all of the stuff that I do in different places, into one cohesive stream of Stuff™. My only disappointment at the time was that the number of feeds you could import were limited, and despite its gorgeous user interface, I couldn't quite see how to customise it to take account of the three different 'personas' I use whenever I do something online.
So my accounts that I set up (http://kisa.tumblr.com and http://siobhan.tumblr.com) have languished rather since then — seeing as how I set my own thing up (which I am still very proud of, thankyouverymuch)
But, obsessed as I am with making sure that my online 'presence' is as up-to-date as possible, combined with my insatiable desire to Do Clever Things™ with stuff, it occurred to me last night that Tumblr.com is the perfect thing to place in the web-tab of your Second Life profile ![]()
So, today, I've been tinkering with a theme — something that looks like it's supposed to be in that tab, rather than spewed into the space (385 pixels wide, fact fans) without any thought at all.
It's obviously a very rushed job — I've a bazillion improvements to make to it — but I thought I'd share it where it's at so far:
http://www.tranniefesto.co.uk/SL_Theme_by_Kisa_Naumova_v0.9.txt.zip
I think all you need to do is choose "Custom HTML" in the theme editor on your Dashboard, and paste the contents of that file in the box. You might have to do something with the default colours (I couldn't get the text to override them) though.
Then all I've done is subscribe to a few of my existing feeds — my Twitter feed as "full text without titles", my Flickr photos as "photos", my revent photo comments as "full text without titles", and my del.icio.us links as "links with descriptions".
The del.icio.us links are rather cunning (I think
). I made a little HUD yesterday that posts your current location as a SLurl to del.icio.us, along with the parcel name and description — so I can chuck interesting locations straight into my web profile as SLurls.
If you fancy a (beta) copy of that, send me an IM and I'll pass one along.
...
Obviously, me being me, and the kind of person that just has to tweak something in order to get it exactly how I want it, what I'm planning on doing in the near future is repurposing all the currantly.org scripts to create a single RSS feed — complete with all the formatting I need — that I can import into Tumblr and display something like this:
But for now, what I've got so far will do just nicely ![]()
Nice. Don't know if currantly.org is still handcoded/involves a lot of "fun with Regex" but SimplePie is totally sweet. Just used it for Coversourcing, and planning to build a proper lifestream in the new year.
Merry Christmas, btw, and have a great New Year. I'm outta here.
Ooooh — ta
My XML parsing is always a bit hacky, even with PHP5. That looks rather interesting...
(Same to you BTW babe
)
...standardisation...
I'm not too sure it's really in their interest to do it. People'd go and re-purpose them, introduce interoperability, suck all the useful meat off the bones and throw away all the nasty adverts and crap that normally festoons them — and that would never do
For a start, it would f'k up their business models ![]()

Just saw a flick myself, ok, DVD, stretched out on the bed with wife, but still.
Enjoy the film!
Re Standardisation, Oh Very Yes. I am constantly looking for a way to standardise, centralise, and any other kind of -ise (or -ize) myself.
My solution right now, being limited a bit by using free apps and services, is the sidebar on my primary blog. Problem is when you got a limit on the stylesheets (like Wordpress) or Twitter.
Well, maybe there is a solution somewhere.
Maybe.
Good luck and see you around!
