Hello
I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.
Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...
For Some Reason, I Can't Get At My Blog To Edit It
...so I guess I'll try and use Flickr instead.
I've been looking at flights this morning, and they confuse me. When I looked last week at how much it would cost to fly to Chicago for the new year, I got quotes around £450 and above. Today, I'm being told that £350 is more likely.
I'm not complaining, obviously, it just strikes me as odd that they can change so much in the course of a few days.
To be honest though, I'm rather glad that they're working out cheaper, seeing as I've just made an appointment to renew my passport, and GOD it's more expensive than when I renewed it ten yaers ago. I guess that with all this new biometric crap that they use — and chips to make sure that I'm carrying a piece of technology more powerful than my first computer every time I fly — it must cost them more to make...
...but I can't help but feel that there's something of a Rip Off going on here.
[Edit: Oh. I can get at it. Disaster averted]
Compilation Of 'Non' 999 Calls
"In [one] example, a woman has phoned 999 to speak to the Prime Minister. She is distressed that no one can put her through and is angry that police can't help." — (via The Register)

A few years ago, someone did a compilation of funny and odd 911 calls (the US equivalent). It was quite funny, too! (Googling either "Funny 999 calls" or "Funny 911 calls" brings up tons of hits.)
One of my favorites, which I can't find right now, was a guy pretending to be a cop, while talking to one of those marketing callers. He has the poor marketing guy almost in tears! One of those cruel, but funny, things.
Oh — air fares vary on a daily basis, and even per flight. I haven't heard of any 'secret to success' for saving money that doesn't basically amount to "check the online sites often".
Is getting an entry visa to the US still dependent upon which airline you use?
