(One really stupid bit of advice, because I've seen "it" happen to 'someone I know': don't tell Immigration that you're seeing your fiancée. If the idiot has had an argument with the other half, they're as likely to turn you back to England so that you can apply for that interminally unavailable "Fiancée visa". Seriously: it happened to someone I know rather well — they were here, and the INS sent them back to England to apply for the visa. His previous visit, the lass sent him through with a hearty "good luck".)

Guys, thank you. Honestly, that means a lot to me
We've been talking about it a lot (of course) and we both want to do something rather quiet — we're hoping to be able to gather our respective families together in Chicago towards the end of next summer, and have the ceremony on board one of the boats that go around the lake. We'd also like to do something over here, afterwards — but we're not entirely sure what that might be yet.
In the meantime though, there is a ton of stuff we need to sort out. For a start, Amiee is moving across here in March, and we need to start looking for somewhere to live together. Plus we have to arrange for her dog to come (which will be fun), not to mention all the legal bits and pieces involved with immigration and whatnot.
But I am so excited about this I've honestly never felt more sure about anything else in life.
I remember back, before we met, daydreaming about how it would be nice if we hooked up and clicked. I couldn't possibly have forseen just how much we would click.
It's amazing to look into someone's eyes, and see your whole future nestling inside of them. Even if those eyes are on the other side of the world right now.
Well... didn't see that coming!

It shouldn't shock me that someone as wonderful as you would have wonderful friends, but I am always amazed at how supportive everyone is here. What a lovely bunch! I feel doubly lucky.
Menno — for as many IMs as I sent you about how I was just totally floored and going to keep her forever (and for as many as it seems she sent you) I would think it's safe to say we owe you a few bottles at least.
Now here's a weird bit of synchronicity: my niece, who lives in the USA, just 'phoned me up to tell me she's engaged. There must be something in the air.

Have a Second Life wedding, too! Just give us a SLurl, teehee. Also, I'd bet it would be fun to make decorations and such, and Kisa already has the dress.
And congrats from me, why not have as many ceremonies as necessary to use all your big wedding dresses? They don't have to cost much, in fact, the wedding I was planning for April was gonna be free. Take one common, 100 tealights and a load of friends, add wine = perfect wedding.
