Hello
I'm Siobhan Curran/Kisa Naumova, and this is my weblog. I tend to write about stuff like crossdressing, Macs, code, cats, wine and Second Life, but in general it's just an ongoing conversation about all sorts of stuff. If you'd like to know a little bit more about what this all is, I recommend starting on this page which has a little bit of info on who I am, and what I'm trying to do — or you could dive into my five years worth of archives if you like.
Otherwise, feel free to close this box and explore...

The word "crossover" comes to mind.
I wish my hair did that ![]()
@Phoenix — Really? A different look how so? I've done a lot of photos of Kisa in clothes like this before ... or did you mean the hair?
I got it about a week ago
I was getting a bit bored of the curly pigtails, and the long style didn't seem to work right for me — especially not over my forehead. When I saw this one, I figured I'd give it a go, and I kinda love it ![]()
Can I show yous the original of this? I feel somehome I should explain just what I've done to the raw snapshot — because I'm rather proud of the work I did on it...
I mean, obviously I did my usual split-channels-hardlight-blur-layer x 50 Million thing that I always do to soften the skin a lot. But there was (and I guess this part is obvious) a hell of a lot of fun with the Liquify tool to sort out the collar and tie (as well as the harsh edges), because as good as the outfit is from Armidi, I still haven't found the perfect tie in Second Life ![]()
The other major thing I did this time (which I haven't done much before) is try to add a bit of texture to the shirt, because it was quite plain — a big expanse of white. I grabbed some images off Google (creative commons ones, of course
) and used them to add creases to the sleeves and a bit of detail in the collar.
And then I did my usual film-grain thing — because frankly, after so much Liquifying, you inevitably get some nasty smears.
Stupid question time... (And I'm the perfect one to ask it
)
I'm curious how your Second Life avatar relates to you, and your appearance in "real" life. How does your appearance in the SL environment relate to you, in real life?
For instance, would you do your hair that way in the real world? (The metaphors are really odd, and somewhat forced whenever a discussion of real versus the virtual crops up. The differentiation is, well, not entirely natural. So to speak.)
I guess it's more a question about my lack of understanding of SL and its role to an individual. But, I keep coming back to the physical enjoyment of altering appearance. Well, my question is more akin to my complete lack of understanding of the appeal of avatars.

Funnily enough, I had a dream about that last night. I got my hair cut really short again — but in a cute way ![]()
I dunno — the question of avatar/self identity is one that continually intrigues (yet alludes) me. I've been having a lot of thoughts about it recently, so I might try to write a little about it.

This is a gorgeous portrait but I'm not quite sure what I think of it past that just yet. It's a very different look than what we are used to seeing on Kisa. I'll get back to you on this one ...
