What with all the hoo-haa about the Safari Vulnerability recently, I did the sensible thing of turning off the 'Open "safe" files after downloading" option in the preferences.
In keeping with what's becoming a well-established, and possibly expected tradition, this post will (a) make no sense, (b) contain repeatedly tedious references to bits of code and Things That I Am Working On™, (c) be proliferated with self-congratulatory nonsense, and (d) only at the very end will it have anything that remotely would suggest that you're reading the weblog of a transvestite.
Thing One: I've been talking to Jon recently about ways to cobble a few Apple products together to create the perfect Home Media system. Front Row is a truly lovely thing indeed (think the iPod interface, but for your Mac) and I figure it would be a piece of cake to symlink your ~/Movies folder to wherever your Elgato EyeTV box saves its files to make a pretty fab home-video-library of Stuff.
Sorry, ignore this, it's just that I had a really good idea on the way back from the shops a second ago, and I wanted to write it down before I forgot about it.
Head buzzing with the residue of a succession of increasingly bizarre dreams - each one slightly more implausible than the last. I think, actually, that might have been the first time I've ever had to apply Godwin's Law to a night's sleep - by the time I'd had a dream with Nazis in it, I figured I should probably get up.
I've been thinking recently about footnotes - or rather, the lack of any cunning part of this weblog's script to deal with them properly. I'd love some kind of little text-based trigger that would shunt a footnote down to the bottom of a page, and leave an anchor in it's place.

Oooh - spam-attack!
(1) Write your own weblogging system. Frankly, if you rely on Movable Type or some such other thing, then I poo in your face :p
Do you have a friend called "Fiona" who sends you emails? Does you friend shorten her name to the first two letters? Does she, therefore, end all her emails thus: "fi"? Do you wonder why she doesn't therefore begin all her emails thus: "if". Are you a sad fuck like me who spends too long staring at code that it's started to take over your everyday language?
I'd thought I'd been a clever little wotsit by putting different things in the <object> and <embed> tags for that film earlier today. But gradually reports started filtering in that all was not well. So I've put a JPEG in instead.
